Melaka never seems to stop amazing you..whether it is during the day or even at night, there's always some beautiful sight to behold as you drive along its city streets. Here from the flyover on the Melaka River mouth you can get a bird's eye view of what was once a sprawling river mouth filled with hundreds of wooden junks
Today it is lined with brightly-lit animated structures like this dragon. These exhibits were put up by people from China for this year's Lunar New Year
This pleasing skyline of Melaka Heritage City at night is also a sight to behold and it's available every night..free of charge!
What's there to do?
1. Take a ride all over town...better during the weekday (with less traffic) and enjoy the "night lights" of the city - Melaka River Mouth, The Stadhuys, The Flor dela Mar, Melaka River at Jambatan Cathay, Kampung Morten, Taming Sari Revolving Tower, The Eye of Malaysia
2. Bring along foldable chairs, a small coffee table and coffee
Now who says there's nothing to see and nothing to do in Melaka?
Each time we recommend friends to Melaka, they respond along this Cantonese line "mou yeh tai...mou yeh cho". This blog is to highlight the many "hidden sites" of Melaka primarily and of the rest of Malaysia and the world in general. To do so, we would need a new way of seeing things; through interactive exploration. It is this that inspired the term EXPLORAQUEST and its theme "It's A Quest Of Scenic And Sensory Delights".

EXPLORAQUEST MELAKA - CHAI TAU KUEH CHINESE RADDISH RICE CAKE AT TENGKERA - 11.2.2009
Just about 100m from the popular putu piring shop, you will find another regular sight along the same Tengkera road. It has been doing the same business for the last 30 years
This Chinese radish rice cake or "Kueh Lobak" in Malay, is popular especially amongst the local Chinese. Compared to others, Uncle Lim's fries his lobak kueh (in Hokkien) with only radish rice cake, lots of garlic and black soya sauce minus the preserved vegetables. Eggs are optional
Most of Uncle Lim's clients always do the take away
NOTE: THIS FOOD IS NOT HALAL
What's there to do?
1. Order a pack to try out
2. Watch his stir frying technique
3. Go find other lobak kueh stalls and compare

EXPLORAQUEST MELAKA - POPULAR PUTU PIRING AT TENGKERA - 11.2.2009
This is one more well known place special for its putu piring. While waiting for your orders you get to watch an efficient performance of making putu piring
Your orders are made on the spot with some waiting as there's usually a cue
Most people do the "take away" and for those who travel far, it's usual that the coconut is left out
Business starts regularly from 6.00pm and goes on till all is sold
The generous filling of Gula Melaka and its freashness makes it extra special
