EXPLORAQUEST PENANG - KAMPUNG SUNGAI PINANG FISHING VILLAGE - 5.2.2009

Sungai Pinang is a mangrove river that still has many traditional wooden houses built along its banks. As evident by this photo, you can still use your boat to get home

Kg Sg Pinang is a Chinese Fishing Community on the upper river and the Malay Fishing Community on the lower river. The main livelihood is from offshore and prawn fishing

A small passage passable by a car is the main way to reach the houses along the upper river

Traditional wooden shophouses adorn the sides of the main street junction

This is the Malay Fishing Community part of Kg Sg Pinang with the Penang National Park Office in the background

EXPLORAQUEST PENANG - CUCUK UDANG SPECIAL KG. SUNGAI PINANG - 5.2.2009

Opposite the second entrance to the Penang National Park Office in Kg Sungai Pinang, Balik Pulau, is a shop that sells super cucuk udang

The cucuk udang has very fresh deep fried tau foo, boiled potatos, slices of cucumber and of course, the cucuk udang pancake. The peanut sauce tops it all!

This is the facade of the shop. Can't remember if it has a sign board, that makes it all the more fun to find it

So who says there's nothing to see and nothing to do in Penang?
