EXPLORAQUEST PENANG - VIEW OF KOMTAR FROM PENANG BRIDGE - 3.3.2009

Once you past the mid span of the Penang Bridge and nearing the end where the bridge meets the island, you can get magnificent panoramas of the mainland all day and night

You can definitely spot the KOMTAR tower that stands majestically tallest. Any views of the Pearl of the Orient from here is not complete if it does not include the KOMTAR. Kompleks Tun Abdul Razak is named after Malaysia's second Prime Minister and was reputedly the tallest building in Asia at 232m (760ft) when it was completed. Built at at cost of RM 207 million, it has 65 storeys and a 12-sided geometric block design. Construction started in 1974

On the 58th floor there is a viewing gallery where you can see the whole area of Georgetown and even the Penang Bridge

Report has it that a fire once broke out on the 43rd floor while it was fortunately still under construction and at that time it was the "highest" fire ever recorded in Malaysia

Guess how many floors are its shopping complex and its carpark?
